"There's always a story behind addiction" is the guiding principle of the addiction and drug policy of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Addiction can have many causes and it is always the end of a long process in which individual, social and addiction-specific factors all play a part.

The objective of the work done to prevent addiction is to become active early on and to promote life skills in children and adolescents.
